The Project

Over the past few weeks I have volunteered with the Hui Manu-o-Kū citizen science project. This project entails finding white tern nests or eggs and filling out an online form describing where and what was seen.

This project was created to give more information on where the birds are nesting and laying eggs. It also gives the public an easy way to get involved in local a conservation project on their own time and near their own homes.

The Hui Manu-o-Kū is an organization of citizens who are conservation minded that want to see the official bird of Honolulu protected. This group has representatives from many organizations around the island including US Fish and Wildlife, the Hawaii Audubon Society, and ‘Iolani School
